Who We Are

LivsMed, a leading medical device company, continues to bring groundbreaking technology to minimally invasive surgery. The company was founded in South Korea, by Dr. Jung Joo Lee, who envisioned a new paradigm of laparoscopic surgery where articulating technology is available to every surgeon. With this vision, ArtiSential™ was introduced in Korean in 2018 and quickly expanded to the US in 2019.

5mm 01

ArtiSential is a line of single-use laparoscopic instruments with double-jointed end effectors controlled by an ergonomic grip. The end effectors move in perfect synchronization with the surgeon’s natural wrist and hand movements, offering the precision of robotic surgical platforms without the high cost. Additionally, ArtiSential provides tactile feedback, allowing surgeons to apply the right pressure to delicate tissue—something robotic systems cannot achieve.

Upon entering the US market, ArtiSential™ was immediately met with excitement from surgeons around the world, receiving the Red Dot Design Award and recognition from the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

ArtiSential5 BI TM 01

In 2024, LivsMed expanded its product line by introducing the ArtiSential 5, making it the only company to offer 5mm wristed articulating instruments. The ArtiSential 5 instruments are lighter and exceptionally well-balanced, enhancing ease of handling for surgeons. These instruments also provide greater flexibility for the surgical team, as they can be used in any port during laparoscopic or robotic procedures. When used in the assist port during robotic surgery, the ArtiSential 5 instruments can potentially reduce procedure costs.

For patients, the use of a smaller trocar to accommodate the 5mm instrument means a smaller incision, which can result in reduced pain, faster healing, and minimal scarring.

Working with physicians worldwide, LivsMed focuses on revolutionizing the capabilities of minimally invasive surgery, advancing patient outcomes and extending life for patients around the world.
